Good news! Submission for Doon Po Sa Amin Year 7 Competition is extended! This online community mapping contest is the country's first and biggest crowd-sourcing game with the purpose of discovering the most unique accounts about our nation's culture and heritage. Play a part in promoting our local tourism by presenting a unique and interesting story in your hometown that you're proud of through a short film, music video, documentary, or animation. First, create a team of 8-10 members under the Student or Open Division. Choose which category you would like to focus on: Activities to Enjoy, Food to Eat, Community Products to Support, History to Uncover, People to Meet, Places to Go, or Plants and Animals to Discover. Entry title must start with "Doon Po Sa Amin" and must be in Tagalog or in a local dialect. English subtitle must also be provided. If your topic qualifies, you can start shooting your entry in any or a combination of animation, documentary, short film, or music video. Make it to the Grand Finals for a chance to take home P50,000, P30,000, or P15,000 respectively for each division. Special prizes will also be given away. Not only that. The three (3) representatives of each team on the top three (3) from both divisions will be invited to Manila for the awarding inclusive of hotel accommodation, travel, and meal expenses.

Contest Requirements:
  • Two (2) Divisions:
    • Student
      • Teams of 7 (minimum) - 9 (maximum) members composed of high school and college students, all local residents
      • Teams are required to have a teacher-coach (minimum of 1, maximum of 3). The teacher-coach will be part of the participating team and will serve as the team's official representative
      • Students from different sections/levels/courses can compose a team
      • All members must be officially enrolled in a school/university
      • There shall be no inter-school collaboration for any entry
      • Fill out an endorsement letter signed by the school principal / college dean
    • Open
      • Teams of 8-10 members, all local residents
      • Teams composed of independent film-making enthusiasts, all local residents, no age limit
      • Team members can be a professional or non-professional
      • Teams should designate one official representative of the group
      • Characters and production crew can be part of the team members
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Your team's official representative must first create an account at doonposaamin.ph. Then register as many entries as you as want by filling out an online registration form found at the website's Contest menu. Registration of an entry is only once 
  2. Seven (7) Categories
    • Activities to Enjoy - Exciting activities/events that can be done in your town
    • Food to Eat - Your town's delicacies
    • Community Products to Support - Unique products and livelihood in your communities
    • History to Uncover - Momentous events that shaped your community
    • People to Meet - Inspiring personalities/groups in your town
    • Places to Go - Destinations in your town that people should visit
    • Plants and Animals to Discover - The plants and animals that can be found in your town
  3. Entry Guidelines
    • Share and present a unique and interesting story in your hometown that you're proud through a short film, music video, documentary, or animation
    • Create:
      • Teams should only tackle stories on village to provincial level only
      • Entry title must start with "Doon Po Sa Amin" and must be in Tagalog or in a local dialect. English subtitle must also be provided
        • Example:
          • Title: "Doon Po Sa Amin, Lumuluhod kay San Isidro ang mga Kalabaw"
          • Subtitle: "The Celebration of the Carabao Festival in the Feast of San Isidro"
      • No teams can have the same topic and geographical scope. The first team to register the topic gets to keep the topic while the other groups have to change theirs or at least the geographical scope of the topic. 
      • The Doon Po Sa Amin (DPSA) Secretariat will check the registered entries and will advise the teams if the topic you have selected is already taken
    • Shoot:
      • Choose any or a combination of the following types for your entry
        • Animation (5-10 minutes) - A simulation of movement created by displaying a series of pictures, or frames. Teams can create animated storyboard, stop motion, 2D/3d animation, among other types of animation
        • Documentary (5-10 minutes) - A film that shows an in-depth presentation of facts about a certain topic. It focuses on real life and includes footage of events or interviews with people
        • Short film (5-10 minutes) - Follows a story line like in the movies
        • Music Video (3-5 minutes ) - A filmed rendition of a song. Teams must compose and record an original song to be used for the music video entry. The song may be in English, Filipino, or other dialects but English subtitle must be provided
      • Entries can be completely shot through the use of any types of video recording device
      • Entries can be edited through the use of any film editing software
      • Music/clips used in any entry must be original. Otherwise, your team must obtain a written consent from the artist/producer/owner in using copyrighted materials
      • All video entries may have versions in MP4, MOV, and MPEG format. Maximum file size is 1 GB
      • All video entries should incorporate the following:
        • Beginning part - Text: This is an entry to the 7th Doon Po Sa Amin Online Community Mapping Competition presented by Smart Communications, Inc.
        • End credits - Text: Complete names of all the team members
        • End part - Properly cited references/sources
        • End part - The logos of the following should appear:
          • Doon Po Sa Amin
          • Smart Communications, Inc.
          • Department of Education
    • Must be original and may not have been previously published or have joined other contests
    • School-based works like theses are eligible
  4. Submission Guidelines
    • Log in to doonposaamin.ph, hover to the Contest menu, choose the title of the entry, then submit
    • Submit a copy of your video entries via:
      • Online - Via file-sharing site (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, 4Shared)
      • Courier - Prepare one (1) DVD copy of your video entry in MP4, MPV, or MPEG format and send it to:

    • DVD cover must contain the following details:
      • i. Contest Division
      • ii. Entry Title
      • iii. Category
      • iv. School name or Team name
      • v. Name and contact no. of Team's official representative
    • Submit a photo that best shows the topic of your entry.
      • Note:
        • Team members should not be in the photo
        • Photo should also not contain any texts
        • Photo must be 800x500 pixels, 100 dpi
    • Teams are required to map your entries to complete the submission. All entries have default map settings based on the location it is pointed at during the submission. Teams have the option to map it to the most accurate point
  5. Judging Criteria - Your entry's score must be at least 60% to qualify for a spot on the top entries.
    • 40% Content
    • 30% Creativity
    • 20% Execution
    • 10% Impact
  6. If your team is composed of members hailing from varying places, you must choose the scope where most members come from (e.g. 5 members from Cebu and 3 members from Manila, your team's entry must tackle a story related to Cebu)
  7. Entries found to be lacking of at least one requirement shall receive a certain point deduction to the team's score.
  8. The judges' decision is final and no further correspondence will be entertained
