Movie buffs, here's another movie treat you've all been waiting for! The Chinese Film Festival 2014 is coming to your favorite SM Malls. This season, 7 outstanding Chinese films will be shown in 4 different SM Malls in 5 days. Back to 1942, Caught in the Web, The Grandmaster-which stars Zhang Ziyi, Say Yes, Full Circle, Aftershock, and Little Big Soldier starring Jackie Chan are among the list. Watch these Chinese Films for FREE. This is a first come first served basis. Run to any participating SM Mall near you (Megamall, North Edsa, San Lazaro, and Manila) on the scheduled movie dates at least 2 hours before the screening starts to guarantee your seat.

Synopsis: 

Back to 1942
  • A North Henan landlord embarks on a pilgrimage to Shaanxi province during the 1942 famine, struggling to survive as war with Japan looms on the horizon. Meanwhile, the Japanese government attempts to turn the Chinese people away from their government by offering them sustenance, and the Chinese government finds themselves forced to choose between feeding their troops or the masses.
Caught in the Web
  • The story begins on a bus, when white-collar worker Ye refuses to give up her seat to a senior citizen. Her defiance is videotaped by a journalist intern and played during a news show. The video sparks intense debate on and off the Internet. Some Internet users search for Ye's personal information and post it all online. The issue soon brings tremendous changes to the families of both the journalist intern and Ye's boss.
The Grandmaster
  • The film chronicles the life of the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man from the 1930s in Foshan, his flight to Hong Kong after the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the events leading to his death.
Say Yes
  • Star cellist Yeh Shun (Lin Chi-ling) is set up by her best friend, bridal dress-shop owner Taozi (Qin Hailu), on a blind date with a rich businessman, Zhao (Wang Xun). By mistake, however, she meets blue-collar handyman Huang Da (Huang Bo), who is separately on a blind date to meet a woman called Tan (Chen Ran).
Full Circle
  • In a nursing home, Old Ge and other residents lived a life of boredom and mundaneness, until one day, his friend, Old Zhou, an optimistic, outgoing man with a generous heart and good sense of humor, joined them. Old Zhou started to organize his fellow elderly to participate in a television contest, awakening the courage and positive spirit long-buried inside them.
Aftershock
  • On a fateful night in the summer of 1976, Tangshan was hit by a powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale. Li Yuanni's twin son and daughter were buried under the rubber. Li discovers that if she is to save either of the children, the other must die. In despair, the mother made this difficult decision, and chose to save her son. However, unknown to Li, her daughter miraculously survived. After 32 years, the paths of the family members cross again after the Wenchuan Earthquakes, but will her daughter finally be able to forgive Li Yuanni?
Little Big Soldier
  • In 3rd century B.C., China was divided into scores of states. Warlords scrambled for territories and great turmoil prevailed. Two of these states were fighting against each other. Both armies were annihilated. Only two men survived this bloodbath- a low-ranked, unnamed Liang soldier and a young, brave Wei general. The unnamed Liang soldier wished nothing but live in peace and till on a piece of land of his own, while the young ambitious Wei general attempted to unify China one day and become the king. Which of them would fulfill their dream?
