Cinemalaya Logo Animation
In celebration of Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival's 10th anniversary, the Cinemalaya Foundation and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in cooperation with the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI) is launching the Cinemalaya Logo Animation competition. What you need to do is produce a new Cinemalaya logo to be used as the new opening billboard for all Cinemalaya competition films. Get those creative juices running and start working on your 2D or 3D animation. Follow the color specs of the balanghai emblem and use the Cinemalaya audio in your piece. Amaze the judges with your animation skills through your 15-second entry. Only one (1) winner will be selected to receive P50,000 + Certificate of recognition from the Cinemalaya Foundation and the CCP..
Contest Requirements:
- Open to all professional and student/amateur animators
- May or may not be a local resident or citizen as long as you have a Filipino lineage
- Log on to culturalcenter.gov.ph and download the entry form, authorization/agreement/waiver form, Cinemalaya audio, and logo
- Entry Guidelines
- Entries should be original
- Entries may be 2D or 3D animation works and shall be made "frame by frame" including computer graphics animation
- Length should be 15 seconds
- Should depict the Cinemalaya balanghai logo and its original colors. The following color specs must be followed:
- Blue – C100, M100, Y0, K0
- Red – C0, M100, Y100, K0
- Yellow – C5, M2, Y100, K0
- Entries shall also utilize the Cinemalaya music used in the original OBB
- Should be submitted in Flash Drive and DVD data disc with the ff details:
- Must contain entry with a color bar of 5 seconds and followed by a black leader of 3 seconds at the beginning
- Master Video File
- Apple ProRes HQ – 2048 x 1080 container size (1920 x 1080, 1998 x 1080, 2048 x 858 and other image sizes are acceptable provided final master file is mounted in the required container size) with video frame rate of 23.98 (technically 23.976)
- Audio Format
- Can be part of the QuickTime file, or provided as separate uncompressed 2/3/5.1 channels 16 or 24 bit/48khz WAV or AIFF files
- Preview Copy
- 1080p in Mp4 format for pre screening/judging
- Put your entries, along with your entry forms and other requirements inside a 9" x 12" document envelope, properly labeled and addressed to:
- Judging Criteria
- 40% Overall Impact - Adherence to the vision and nature of Cinemalaya; overall congruence of the artistic and technical aspects of the work
- 30% Artistic Concept - Originality of concept and creativity of direction
- 30% Technical Quality - Quality of technical aspects including editing, sound, animation techniques; innovative use of visuals
- You may submit a maximum of two (2) entries only
- One (1) entry form is required for each work submitted
- Twenty (20) entries will be pre-selected to become finalists in the competition
- The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final
