His single mother, Lara works hard, but luckily they can always rely on Hedi, the charming old lady next door who is like a granny to Mika. Mika’s strictly controlled life is turned upside down one winter’s night when he hears a neighing sound. He can hardly believe his eyes when he spots a horse on the balcony of the apartment next door
A Pas De Loup (With a Wolf's Gait)

The weekend at the farm is as dreary as usual, until Cathy receives ‘magic seeds’ from the hands of an old farm worker. Curious and excited, she decides not to return home at the end of the weekend, so that she can observe how the seeds start to grow. Staying behind alone, Cathy realizes that her parents will be worried and will start looking for her. She is afraid to be severely punished for this big mistake, and she runs away into the forest where she gets lost...
Footsteps in the Sand

Musime si pomahat (Divided We Fall)
  • The movie is set in a small Czech town occupied by Nazi German forces during the Second World War. Josef (Boleslav Polivka) and Marie (Anna Siskova) Cizek, a childless couple, are trying to survive the difficult times of war by confining themselves in their house, simplifying their lives to everyday passive commonness. They are forced to change this life attitude radically though, after Josef meets with David Weiner (Csonger Kassai), the young Jewish son of his former employer, whose family has long since been deported from the town. David is now the only surviving member of his family and has recently escaped from a concentration camp. Fully aware of the extreme danger of harboring a Jew, the Cizeks cannot leave David to certain death and decide to provide refuge in their home.
A Royal Affair
  • A ROYAL AFFAIR is a true story of an ordinary man who wins the queen’s heart and starts a revolution. Centering on the intriguing love triangle between the ever more insane Danish King Christian VII, the royal physician who is a man of enlightenment and idealism Struensee and the young but strong Queen Caroline Mathilda, A ROYAL AFFAIR is the gripping tale of brave idealists who risk everything in the pursuit of freedom for their people. Above all, it is a story of a passionate and forbidden romance that changed an entire nation.
Les bien aimes (Beloved)
  • From Paris in the 60’s to London’s modern days, Madeleine and her daughter Vera waltz in and out of the lives of the men they love. But love can be light and painful, cheerful and bitter. An elegy to emininity and passion with musical outbursts.
  • About nine years before the fall of the Wall: Barbara, a doctor from Berlin, applies for an exit permit from the GDR. She is arrested and transferred to a provincial hospital after her release in the summer of 1980. While her lover prepares for her escape to the West via the Baltic Sea, Barbara works as a paediatric surgeon, under frequent observation and controls. Her new boss André appears to be cooperating with the state security employees - but how far would he go if a serious case were to occur? He does, at least, seem to approve of Barbara’s commitment to the young outsider, Stella. Is he in love with his colleague? On the day of her escape, Barbara makes an only somewhat surprising decision.
Almanya - Wilkommen in Deutschland
  • Hüseyin Yilmaz came to Germany in 1964 as an Anatolian guest worker. Shortly before he is about to be naturalized, he realizes he is not sure he wants to become a German citizen. Unexpectedly, he reveals to his wife, children and grandchildren that he has bought a house in his old hometown and that he expects them to go there and help him renovate it. Reactions are mixed. Hüseyin reassures everyone that he only wants to use it as a holiday home; that he does not want to return there permanently. Canan is afraid to travel; she is pregnant and neither her parents nor her grandparents know. Episodes from the past are meshed with those from the present. Canan tells us how her grandfather eloped with his wife, how he left for Germany to be able to support his wife and children; how he later fetched his family, and what problems he was confronted with upon his arrival in Germany; how the family took their first holiday in Anatolia together and the first signs of alienation.
O xenagos (The Guide)
  • Iasonas arrives in Athens starting his new ambitious career as "architects' guide". His group consists of international students of architecture, finishing their Erasmus in Thessaloniki. Meanwhile, he meets back with his once (more than just a) best friend Mirsini. Trapped between a friend who progressively sees him less and less as a friend and a group that sees him less and less as a guide, Iasonas will have to give an answer to all his personal questions regarding his sexuality and his career

Pranzo di Ferragosto (Mid-August Lunch)
  • A middle-aged man lives with and looks after his elderly mother, as unpaid bills pile up around him. As the traditional Italian holiday weekend of the 15 August approaches, the hapless hero is potentially offered, at least a partial, solution to his pecuniary problems. His landlord, one of his friends and even his doctor each persuade him to let them dump their elderly relatives on him, so that he can accommodate them and wait on them over the holiday period. Notwithstanding his reluctance to take on such nanny duties, the lure of relief from his financial straits is too much and so an assortment of ill-matched, elderly ladies descends on the tiny flat.
La stanza del figlio (The Son's Room)
  • Giovanni Sermonetti is a psychoanalyst who lives in Ancona with his wife, Paola and two adolescent children. He loves his work, his life and his family and is shocked when he learns his son and a school friend stole a precious fossil. One Sunday morning his day of rest is upset when a patient calls to say he is unwell. Giovanni changes his plans for the day and goes to visit the patient instead of spending time with his son, Andrea. The boy decides to go scuba diving with some mates but unfortunately tragedy strikes and Andrea gets the bends and dies. This is the beginning of an extenuating and heart-rending period of mourning for the family that is only exacerbated by misunderstandings and the different ways in which each one faces the immense tragedy. After the longest time of suffering perhaps they begin to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel when one morning they receive a letter in the mail from Andrea’s young girlfriend. Is this the remedy they were all looking so desperately for?

Kautokeino-opproret (The Kautokeino Rebellion)
  • For centuries, the windswept highlands of Northern Norway have been populated by the indigenous Sami people and their reindeer herds, but modern times are catching up with the remote township of Kautokeino, ruled by the wealthy liquor dealer and merchant Carl Johan Ruth. One of the Sami siida tribes, led by the young woman Elen, refuses to pay their unjust debt to Ruth. Ruth sends most of the members of Elen’s tribe to prison without trial, and she is left to take care of the reindeer by herself. Elen gets help to go to court, and most of the men are freed. However, Ruth confiscates all their reindeer to cover the costs of the trial. Without a livelihood, Elen and her tribe have no other choice but to resist Ruths claim. In the evening of November 7, 1852, 57 men, women and children leave their tents and their reindeer behind and head for Kautokeino. Several of them will never return home. They reach the township in the early hours of dawn on the next day. The result is one of the most dramatic episodes in Scandinavian history. The Kautokeino Rebellion is based on a true story. Director Nils Gaup is a descendant of one of the participants of the rebellion.

As the war progresses, Martin finds himself in various different situations – a sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers, a monastery and partisan hideaways – where he has to conceal his Jewish origins. Svilanangorna (Beyond)

Project NIM
  • From the Oscar-winning team behind MAN ON WIRE comes the story of Nim, the chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of a landmark experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. Following Nim’s extraordinary journey through human society, and the enduring impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, the film is an unflinching and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human. What we learn about his true nature - and indeed our own - is comic, revealing and profoundly unsettling.
Dreams of Life
  • Would anyone miss you? Nobody noticed when Joyce Vicent died in her bedsit above a shopping mall in North London in 2003. Her body wasn’t discovered for three years, surrounded by Christmas presents she had been wrapping, and with the TV still on. Newspaper reports offered few details of her life -- not even a photograph. Interweaving interviews with imagined scenes from Joyce’s life is not only a portrait of Joyce but a portrait on London in the eighties -- the city, music and race. It is a film about urban lives, contemporary life, and how, like Joyce, we are all different things to different people. It is about how little we may ever know each other, but nevertheless, how much we can love.
