Puerto Del Sol Giveaway

Before summer ends, why don't you go for a trip up north in the western side of the Philippines. Specifically Bolinao, a 7 hour bus ride from Manila. It's near the famous hundred islands so you can do a package tour. I got a chance to stay in one of the best resorts in Bolinao - Puerto Del Sol. I expected a regular resort with beach and pool but was I wrong. I enjoyed my stay there as it was filled with fun nature activities.

We arrived around 7AM in Bolinao and was welcomed by a old church. Halfway down the block, we found ourselves in Adora's restaurant where we had our pinoy breakfast. After breakfast, we were picked up by a van owned by Puerto Del Sol. This was our ride to the resort. Before we made our way to Puerto Del Sol, we went on a detour trip to the famous Bolinao Falls. We first went to the first fall.

It was a magnificent site. The water was quite clear and cold. It was refreshing to take a swim. We next made our way to the next waterfall. This one was way bigger than the first. There are more people here. You can rent out small huts where you can put your things in and eat on. You can also rent out rubber lifesavers for P20-P100. I rented out the biggest one so we could sit inside the tube.
The best location is to sit right under the waterfall where you have shade from the sun and constant flow of water. You automatically will default to zen mode. After the swim, we finally made our way to Puerto Del Sol to have lunch. Their food is delicious. The main course was banugs with cheese and ham. Who would have thought it can be a great combination? I went strolling around the resort. I liked the architecture and color of the rooms and buildings. There were full of plants and trees that also act as a shade. They had these small ceramic fish along the cemented walkway. The interior of the restaurants was equally beautiful. You can eat in the indoor restaurant or outdoor by the beach. You can even have a romantic dinner date through a table setup by the beach. Mid-afternoon, we made our way to a cave nearby. From the van, you just needed to climb a flight of stairs to get to the cave entrance. The water in the cave was freezing cold but it was worth going in. Good thing manong was there to assist because he showed us a discreet entrance to a cavern. Next stop is a peak by the shore. This spot is great for photo shoots or having a short siesta. Finally an abandoned lighthouse. When we made our way back, it was about dinnertime. Dinner was as good as lunch. The mango with ice cream was a winner. We capped the night with some cocktails. Next day we had pinoy breakfast again. Awesome food as usual. We toured around the rooms to see what it had to offer. There are several options to choose from. There is the 1 floor Kubo complete with an outdoor patio. It's available in twin beds or queen sized beds. Complete with TV and mini fridge. I liked the 2 floor Kubo better. The patio was below the room. You had to climb a wooden staircase to go to your room. If you are on a budget, you can choose to stay in Nipa Huts which can accommodate up to 5 guests. These are open air rooms enclosed in a curtain. You can then use the lockers to keep your things safe and shared bathroom for shower and toilet needs. If you are not that adventurous and stingy, you can rent out the Family Room instead. It can accommodate up to 10-14 people. Down the hall is a shared bathroom. To kill time, we took a dip in the pool and the shaded outdoor jacuzzi. Although the beach was just beyond the gate of the resort, I wasn't able to get a chance to swim. The sand was nice though. There were also cemented huts along the beach. Before we left Puerto Del Sol, we had our lunch. It was barbecue with peanut sauce and vegetables in the sides. Much like a satay chicken. I must say that I trully enjoyed my trip in Puerto Del Sol.

It's just an overnight trip but I was definitely refreshed as I was relaxed
