Shell Students Art Contest '13

Do you want to shape the future? Then leave a mark today by joining the 46th Shell National Students Art Competition entitled Insignia. There are no theme for this year's contest. Just choose which category you would like to join: Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor, Sculpture, or Digital Fine Arts. You can submit up to two (2) entries across all categories. Submit your best artwork and take home cash prizes worth P60,000, P40,000 or P30,000 respectively plus medals (gold, silver or bronze) and plaques on all categories. Products from International Fine Paper Exchange will also be given to the winners in the Oil/Acrylic and Watercolor groups. In addition, all non-winning finalists will each receive P2,000 cash + Certificate of Merit. The prizes doesn't stop there. The schools of First Prize winners will also get a special grant worth P20,000 for the Faculty Development Program. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead, leave your imprint on today's world and be immortalized as one of the great influencers of future generations.

Contest Requirements:
  • Open to currently enrolled college students with at least 12 units in duly recognized local schools during school year 2013-2014
  • Previous first prize winners may still join except in the category where they already won
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Log on to Shell National Students Arts Competition website and download the entry form
  2. Four (4) Categories
    • Oil/Acrylic
      • Minimum of at least 2x3 feet and a maximum of 3x3 feet including the box frame
      • Only rectangular and square canvass will be accepted
      • Entries should be ready to display (Properly stretched with a box frame or in wrap-around stretcher)
    • Watercolor
      • Must use Arches Papers and Winsor & Newton or Lefranc & Bourgeois colors
      • Paper size must be 14x20 inches and not more than 22x30 inches including the frame
      • Entries should be properly framed and ready for display
    • Sculpture
      • Freestanding
      • Height must be at least 1 foot but not more than 1.5x1.5  feet including base
      • Base (optional) must be at least 1 inch but not more than 2 inches in height and not more than 1.5 feet on all sides
      • Entries may be made of wood, properly fired clay, stone, metal or other durable material, or a combination
    • Digital Fine Arts
      • Entries must be in CD-ROM format with letter-sized print in photo or inkjet paper
      • CD-ROM must contain the "native" or original working files used in composing the entry (including .PSD files that must be flattened, fonts, and raw materials such as scanned image sources
      • Must be 300 dpi resolution
      • Scanned imagery and digital painting techniques are allowed
      • You must be the owner of the artwork. Exception is made if you show proof/receipt of purchase from an image bank or person whom the image was acquired
  3. Submission Guidelines
    • Your name must not appear on the face of the entry 
    • One (1) entry form per artwork
    • Entry form Section A must be submitted at the authorized NSAC receiving center or Shell office duly signed by you, your parent/guardian and the certifying professor
    • Entry form Section B must be attached on the back of the artwork for proper identification duly signed by you, your parent/guardian and the certifying professor
    • You will be given an acknowledgement receipt signed by the receiving officer with the corresponding entry number
    • Provincial entries must be submitted to any of the ff:
      • Shell depots and installations outside Metro Manila
      • Gallery Orange, 2/F, Annex Bldg., Lopue's Mandalagan, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
      • Anthill Fabric Gallery, Pedro Calomarde corner Acacia Sts., Gorordo Ave., Lahug, Cebu City 
    • Metro Manila entries must be submitted to:
      • Ground floor, Shell House, 156 Valero St., Salcedo Village, Makati City
  4. You may submit a maximum of two (2) entries only across all categories
  5. The price indicated on the entry form will be considered as final
  6. Proceeds of painting sold during the exhibition will be turned over to you after the exhibition
  7. All entries will undergo preliminary screening before final judging. The decision of judges will be final

Contest Prize:

      • First Prize - P60,000 CASH + P5,000 worth of products from International Fine Paper Exchange + gold medal + plaque
      • Second Prize - P40,000 CASH + P4,000 worth of products from International Fine Paper Exchange + silver medal + plaque
      • Third Prize - P30,000 CASH + P3,500 worth of products from International Fine Paper Exchange + bronze medal + plaque
    • Sculpture/Digital Fine Arts
      • First Prize - P60,000 CASH + gold medal + plaque
      • Second Prize - P40,000 CASH + silver medal + plaque
      • Third Prize - P30,000 CASH + bronze medal + plaque
  • Consolation Prize (All finalists except major winners) - P2,000 CASH + Certificate of Merit
  • Schools of First Prize Winners - Special grant worth P20,000 for the Faculty Development Program
  • Notes:
    •  All participants will each receive a Certificate of Participation
    • Cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners in all four (4) categories include the purchase award for the winning art piece. This also applies to winning art pieces tagged "not for sale"
    • In the event that there would be a buyer from the digital fine art (except the major prize winners), you will receive P2,000 for every request of reprint
