For years, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has been supporting the Filipino talents in the movie industry. Now, on it's 38th year, they are still at work for another successful celebration of our local filmmakers' masterpieces. This time, MMFF launched the New Wave Competition so everyone will have a chance to join. The wave is divided into two (2) sections: Student and Feature Film. College students can vie for the Student Short Film category wherein your team can win the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Jury Prize and other special awards. On the other hand, high school and college students can enter the Cine-Phone Movie Making category. Using your phone cameras, you have to make a film centering on the theme, "Restoring Road Courtesy Among Motorists and Pedestrians". Six regional winners (3 high school & 3 college) will each receive P25,000 cash, post-product package, digital camera, broadband kit, cellphone load, smart phone, and apprenticeship under Director Paul Soriano. What makes this competition more exciting is MMFF's section for the Full Length Feature Film which is open to all non-student and independent filmmakers. Prizes at hand are P300,000 (Best Picture), P200,000 (Special Jury Prize), and P50,000 for the Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director.
