Lakbay Kalikasan Art Contest

Petron believes that free artistic expression remains intrinsic to nation-building. With this conviction and as support to our artists' unique vision and dynamic translations of Philippine culture through diverse artworks, they launched the Lakbay Kalikasan Art Competition. The artwork should be based on the theme "A Journey of Nurturing Nature". Choose a category you want to join - Painting, Colored Photography, or Print Making. Show how creative you are for a chance of winning P50,000 (Painting) or P30,000 (Colored Photography or Print Making). In addition to the cash prize, you will also receive a trophy & plaque made by National Artist and Chairman of the Board of Judges Napoleon V. Abueva.



Contest Requirements:
  • Open to all college students and students of a tutorial art or photography programs, ages 15-28 years old
  • The student must be of good moral character. A certification of such from the dean or art teacher must be attached to the application form
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Three (3) Categories
    • Painting Category
      • Watercolor/Water-based Media
        • Surface to be used must be watercolor paper or illustration board only
        • Should not exceed 4 x 4 feet, exclusive of frame
      • Oil/Acrylic
        • Surface to be used must either be canvass, canvass paper or wood
        • Should not exceed 4 x 4 feet, exclusive of frame
    • Colored Photography
      • Size of the photograph must not be smaller than 8 x 10 inches and should not exceed 10 x 15 inches, exclusive of frame
      • Must be original and have been photographed after April 30, 2012
      • Must not have been previously exhibited or awarded a prize in another contest, corrected and manipulated in any post production activity
      • Camera used should be declared
      • Digital photography and use of filters are allowed
    • Print Making Category
      • Must be based on the theme
      • Minimum artwork size on paper is 12 x 16 inches but not more than 16 x 20 inches
      • Printmaking techniques include woodcut,wood engraving, rubber cut, silk screen linocut, etching, metal engraving, collagraph, serigraph, and lithograph among others. There should be no computer generated images
      • Design must be your own original unpublished work and must not contain third party logos, trademarks or copyright materials
      • Winning works, including printmaking designs , must be "translatable" for corporate giveaways such as t-shirts
  2. Application forms are available at any participating Petron service stations and bulk plants nationwide or at the secretariat's office (c/o Studio 5 Designs, 28 Paseo de Roxas corner Jupiter St., Bel-Air Village, Makati City).   3. Submission Guidelines
    • Application forms must be signed by your college or university dean or the art teacher of a tutorial to confirm your current enrollment. In addition, it must also be accompanied by a duly signed affidavit which is provided in the downloadable application form
    • Entries may be submitted to Petron bulk plants nationwide or to the Project Secretariat c/o Studio 5 Designs. (Entries sent to the Project Secretariat via the standard registered package or by courier must be postmarked July 24, 2012)
    • All entries must be unframed, dry, properly packed, and labeled. Entries using paper must have a protective backing (corrugated board), as support and transparent cover (cellophane or plastic film)
    • All entries must be properly labeled
  4. You can only submit one (1) entry per category for the Oil/Acrylic and Waterbased Categories. On the other hand, you can submit unlimited number of entries for the Photography and Printmaking Category

      • Six (6) winners will EACH receive
        • P30,000 cash

  • Runners-Up
    • Painting Category
      • Six (6) winners (3 from every category) will EACH receive
        • P20,000 cash
    • Colored Photography Category
      • Three (3) winners will EACH receive
        • P15,000 cash
  • The school or museum-based class of the Grand Prize winners will receive a special gift from Petron Corporation
  • All qualified participating artists will be given a Certificate of Appreciation
