To celebrate the talent of Filipino songwriting and to give praise to our very own songwriters and composers in their contribution to the music industry, Mr. Ryan Cayabyab, together with the country's top companies (Maynilad, Meralco, Smart, Sun, PLDT, TV5 and PICC) bring you the First Philippine Popular Music Festival. Help revive the country's music industry and join this grand event. Compose a song of your chosen genre and upload the audio file online upon registration. A panel of judges will screen all the entries according to artistry and creativity and will be narrowed down to 100. Selection of top 30 happens on the second level of screening. Lastly, the final 14 finalists will be chosen and shall move on to the finals night. Prizes at stake are P1 Million, P500,000 and P250,000 plus a trophy. You can also vote online or via SMS for the People's Choice who will take home P200,000 and a trophy as well.

Contest Requirements:
  • Open to all local-based or has Filipino descent amateur and professional composers
    • If non-Filipino citizen: Should present Proof of Filipino lineage (may be NSO-certified birth certificate of relative establishing Filipino lineage)
  • Composers of any age, including minors with written consent from a parent or legal guardian
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Log on to the Philippine Popular Music Festival website
  2. Entry Guidelines
    • Must be your original composition
    • A song entry may be written in any form or structure, whether in a popular or new song genre, fusion, etc
    • Lyrics may be in Filipino (a local regional language, dialect), English, or any combination
    • Audio file should be in MP3 format and must not exceed four (4) minutes
    • Must not be licensed to any publisher, has not been recorded before and must not infringe on any existing copyright or any other rights
    • Lyrics in single space 12-pt Arial saved as Word document. For those with regional language or dialect, in part or in whole, you must provide a line by line translation in English.
  3. Complete the online entry form and upload audio file and lyrics in prescribed format
  4. Judging Criteria
    • 60% Final Preliminary Judging
    • 40% Finals Night Song Performance
  5. You can only enter a maximum of two (2) songs, either as a sole composer or collaborator
  6. Top 14 finalists will move on to the finals
  7. One (1) form should be submitted per entry
