Bring your imagination, originality and vision to reality with the 2012 Romeo Forbes Children's Storywriting Competition. For this year, artist Jon Jaylo provided an untitled oil on canvass painting as an inspiration piece and theme. Submit only one (1) entry via email. It's important that you warrant the originality of your work. One (1) winner will receive P35,000 cash plus a chance for the author's story to be published and included in the list of childrens' books. On the other hand, if you are interested to read other volumes, simply download it on CANVASS' website for FREE.

Contest Requirements:
  • Open to all Filipinos of all ages
Contest Mechanics:
  1. There is no particular theme, other than the use of this year's contest piece by artist Jon Jaylo as the inspiration or basis for the entry
  2. Entry Guidelines
    • Original (You must warrant the originality of your entry)
    • May be in English or Filipino
    • Must not exceed 1,200 words
    • Must not have been previously published or submitted in any other competition
  3. Submit your entry by email, as a Microsoft Word attachment, to storycontest@canvas.ph with the subject heading 2012 ROMEO FORBES CHILDREN'S STORYWRITING COMPETITION. In the body of the email, provide your name the title of the entry, mailing and email address, and telephone/cellphone number
    • NOTE: "CANVAS acknowledges each and every entry that we receive. If you submitted a story, and do not receive an acknowledgment from us within 24 hours, please assume that your story was not received and kindly resend it to us."
  4. Judging Criteria
    • 35% Originality and Storyline
    • 35% Imagery
    • 20% Quality of Writing
    • 10% X-Factor/Judges' discretion
  5. You can only submit one (1) entry
  6. Only the story title should appear on all pages of the attached entry
  7. CANVAS shall forward a shortlist of at least five (5) stories with the highest scores to the Artist. The Artist shall then provide comments on any or all the stories, for consideration by the panel of judges
  8. The panel of judges - taking the contest criteria and Artist comments into non-binding consideration - shall collectively choose the winner from the shortlist of stories
