National Scriptwriting Contest

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is holding a National Scriptwriting Contest this year with the theme "Historical Non-fiction" Your story may revolve around events that took place in this country that only few know about. The contest aims to "uplift aesthetic, cultural and social values for a better understanding and appreciation of the Filipino identity" Winners will get to take home a huge CASH prizes of P350k, P250k, and 150k respectively.


Contest Requirements:

  • Open to Filipino and of-Filipino descent writers, historians, film enthusiasts, overseas Filipino workers and Filipino expats
  • Entrants may be based in the Philippines or abroad
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Theme: "Historical Non-fiction" -orthodox and unorthodox approaches in narrating Philippine history
  2. Entry Guidelines
    • Submit ONLY one (1) entry reproduced into seven (7) copies, each copy to be accompanied by a synopsis
    • Typewritten on regular bond paper (8.5x11) in standard format
    • Name of the writer and title of the script must be typed out on a separate information sheet
    • No identifying marks of the writer should appear on the pages of the script
    • Written in Filipino, English or in any local Filipino dialect
    • Script written in a local dialect should have a Tagalog or English translation
    • One-page bio data with place of birth, civil status, names of parents, educational attainment, current community tax certification number, tax identification number and two (2) passport size colored photos
  3. Send entries to

  • Grand prize - P350,000
